The media's obsession with copycatting (whether via sequels or by blatant duplication of successful ideas) is beyond reasonable. Yet, there's an argument for the other side of the coin. Copying (and refining) successes made an automobile industry, for example. And in the Disney world, it was repeating a success (Mickey Mouse) that enabled Walt to build his empire. That said, I'm sure that Walt would not look forward to the inevitable "High School Musical 70: Assisted Living Center" any more than you or I! In many ways, I agree with you.
